I had a chance to catch part of the Pirates practice today. I enjoy shooting at practices because it gives me a chance to get closer to the action and shoot from areas in the field that are impossible during an official game. It's great practice for me as well. I try to improve/experiment my shooting techniques before the weekend games. It's always fun to meet some of the players and coaches. Today, some of the guys were making incredible plays and one handed catches. I hope this energy continues into this weekend's game against Trinity. #LetsGoBucs! #PiratesFight
Update: 10/30/2014
I visited the Pirates practice again today. It's been a couple of weeks since since their last home game and this weekend is another away game. Anytime I get a chance to make it out to Southwestern I like to catch their practices. Today I was very excited to test the new Canon 7D Mark II. This is a camera that I have been waiting for, specifically to shoot sports. I have been shooting all of my sports images with the Canon 5D Mark III. It's been a great camera but for action I desired the 10 frames per second, fast AF and the "extra focal reach" with the 1.6 crop factor of the 7D. So far I'm very impressed with the performance and quality. It's not (full frame) 5D OR 1DX image quality but I'm still very happy with the results. All of these pictures were shot in Jpeg mode and edited in Lightroom. I normally shoot everything in Raw mode for greater editing flexibility but at the moment Lightroom does not support the Raw files. I'm very curious to shoot with it in low light situations and see how it performs. Stay tuned!
